Richard Berman :: Director of Technology Practice

Richard founded VerbFactory in 2003 after serving as director of corporate communications at TCSI, a publicly traded telecom software firm that became the agency’s first client. He has held management positions at top public relations agencies in New York and San Francisco, and won the first of his two CIPRA awards for excellence in public relations as a founding member of Ruder Finn Interactive. Richard is an award-winning writer who has written more than 1000 published magazine and newspaper articles and has co-authored several books. When not developing killer programs for VerbFactory clients he plays upright bass in seedy bars in the Bay Area. Richard earned his BA at the University of Toronto and has studied writing and journalism through the University of Wisconsin, the Johns Hopkins University and Ryerson University in Toronto.

Peter Kohn :: Director of Insurance/Finance Practice

Peter is a seasoned media-relations specialist who has worked closely with electronics, consumer-product, telecom, pharmaceutical, biotech, and financial-services companies for more than 20 years. Stories about his clients have appeared in top publications, including Forbes, Fortune, BusinessWeek, The Wall Street Journal, Investor’s Business Daily, Barron’s, Money, Financial Times, CNBC and USA Today. Before joining VerbFactory in 2004, Peter held senior management positions at top public relations and investor relations firms, including Ruder-Finn and Lippert/Heilshorn. In addition, he has provided media relations consulting at other elite PR firms that include, Ketchum, Burson-Marsteller, Weber Shandwick, and Peppercom. His financial background was honed while working at Dreyfus Corporation, and at the ROI Group (New York-based investment banking firm) as a financial analyst. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree at Buffalo State. Peter is an avid skier and cyclist, and enjoys volunteering for the American Red Cross, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and the Ronald McDonald House.

Lawrence Talbot :: Director of Environmental Practice

Lawrence joined VerbFactory in 2004 after serving as Chief Operating Officer of Intuitive Computers, a Maryland-based computer reseller he co-founded in 2001. Under his watch, the company grew its annual revenues to more than $4 million. Previously Lawrence worked at VoiceStream Wireless (now part of T-Mobile), where he developed promotional strategies and served as the company spokesman on wireless-data issues. Prior to entering the high-tech industry, he was general manager of a bicycle-manufacturing company in Vietnam and a mechanic for an auto-racing team. He holds a B.S. in Environmental Economics from the University of California at Berkeley, and studied international economics at Oxford.

Jake More :: Creative Director

Jake combines technical design savvy with years of experience in marketing to help clients effectively communicate their messages. He has worked as a graphic and web designer for over 20 years, and has designed Web sites, PowerPoint templates, brochures, newsletters, and HTML-based e-mails for a wide range of clients. He has worked as a designer and a creativity coach for large corporations, non-profit organizations, foundations, and medical professionals and spent 10 years with Meyer/Glass Design, a premier toy research and development firm in Chicago. Jake also plays drums and percussion, and can be heard on several recordings as well as appearing in some of those same seedy Bay Area bars as Rich and his bass.
